Former Illinois State Senator and Comptroller, Dawn Clark Netsch, was a leading voice in the areas of state finance, justice, education, ethics and equality, and the first woman to be nominated by a major political party to be the Governor of Illinois. She never lost sight of her core values and the courage necessary to be at the forefront of important issues and politics. She was often the lone voice in the room, speaking with deep certainty, yet always with grace and dignity. IWIL holds this annual forum in her honor as an effort to continue her legacy.
